Age 17
I was standing by my locker in the ladies locker room at school. I heard an audible voice say, “Go to college,” very loudly. It was loud enough to startle me. In that moment I realized I had not being intending to go to college. My plan was to move to California and live near my cousins. I did not want to go to college, but I felt the heavy hand insist upon me. So, I went to college.
College was difficult, painful, and something I had to recover from. By the end, I wasn’t sure I heard the voice of God. Maybe it was a lying spirit. But I can’t be sure that the struggles I went through in college were entirely the fault of academia. I know I learned. And I know God works all things together for the good of those who love him. So, maybe it was his voice, after all.
